The Power of a Quiet Life

Updated: May 6

Scripture: “Her children arise and call her blessed…” —Proverbs 31:28a

Susanna Wesley never led a church, wrote a book, or preached a sermon—but she raised children who did. Her life was full of trials: financial hardship, the loss of children, and managing a household of many. Despite the chaos around her, she consistently made time for God, occasionally pulling her apron over her head to pray.

What made Susanna remarkable wasn’t worldly recognition but quiet faithfulness. She believed that teaching her children, praying for them, and living out her faith at home was a holy assignment. Her unseen acts of obedience changed the world through her sons, John and Charles Wesley.

You may feel like your daily responsibilities are ordinary—but in God’s eyes, they are sacred. Every meal cooked, every lesson taught, every prayer whispered—it matters. God sees your quiet service and uses it in ways you may never fully understand.

Prayer: Lord, help me to be faithful in the small things. Give me eyes to see my daily life as a place of ministry. Use my simple obedience to shape something greater for Your glory, in Jesus' name, Amen.

Devotional Challenge:

Find 5–10 minutes today to sit quietly with God. Dedicate your “ordinary” tasks to Him and ask Him to use your life, right where you are.

Ask God to help you see your everyday moments as sacred. Like Susanna, you may be shaping something far bigger than you realize. Faithfulness in the small things is how God often prepares us for His most significant works.
